인기가수 손지연 대장의 집에 놀러갔을 때의 일이다. 묘하게 아늑했던(단순히 아늑하지만은 않았다) 그 집에는 고장난 스테레오가 있었는데, 한 번 집어넣은 CD를 뱉어내지 않는 고약한 병에 걸려 있었다. 이 녀석은 자칫 골칫덩어리로 전락할 수도 있었겠지만, 희생양으로 들어가 있는 CD에 마침 이 노래가 들어 있었고, 손지연 대장은 매일 이 노래를 듣느라 기계를 고칠 생각도 안하고 있었다. 하루에 몇 번씩 들으며, 자기 전에는 꼭 눈을 감고 부처님처럼 정좌를 하고 이 노래를 감상하기 때문에, 집안에서는 미친년 취급을 하고 있다는데, 아니나다를까 그 자리에 있던 사람들 모두에게 정좌를 하고 손을 맞잡기를 요구했다. 손지연 대장과 함께 눈을 감고 손을 잡고 처음 들었던 이 노래는 말 그대로, 아주 좁은 창문 틈으로 들어오는 햇빛처럼, 내 마음 속에 작은 희망을 꿈틀꿈틀 싹트게 했다. 연약해서 부러질 것만 같았던 희망을 강해지게 했다. 그래서 힘들어하는 친구가 있으면, 어떻게든 귓바퀴를 잡아끌고 와서라도 이 노래를 들려주고 싶다.
